The Local Plan guides development and defines how planning applications are dealt with until 2030. It sets the overall planning strategy, allocates sites for development and contains planning policies which aim to ensure that new development contributes to the economic, environmental and social needs of the Borough.

Christmas shopping in Kidsgrove can be a challenge!

Call for speed cameras on #kidsgrove bank

Kidsgrove road 2aA car crash that closed the road at the top of Kidsgrove Bank for several hours has led to calls for speed cameras to be sited there.

The car knocked down a telegraph pole and bent a lamppost near the junction with Mobberley Road as it travelled along the A50 towards Goldenhill. [Read more…]

Suspected arson attack in Clough Hall Park

A fire has gutted the pavilion in Clough Hall Park which fire services believe may have been started deliberately.

Fire crews from Kidsgrove and Sandyford attended the scene early this morning, (18/11/2013), and after dealing with the fire a spokesman said that they believe an accelerant such as petrol may have been used, the police are now investigating.

The group, ‘Friends of Clough Hall Park’ are “gutted”, they have worked hard to bring Clough Hall Park back into community use organizing events and opening a café for footballers and park users at weekends, this latest setback has left them ‘devastated’.

Sports facilities in Alsager delivered on trust?

Cheshire East Council are changing the way leisure services are delivered by forming a new trust to run leisure centres in the region.

The new ‘Everybody Sport & Recreation Trust’ will be responsible for running sports facilities and swimming pools in the area including Alsager. [Read more…]

The toilets in Heathcote Street, Kidsgrove, have gained a silver rating in the Loo of the Year Awards while manned conveniences in Hassell Street and Merrial Street, Newcastle, have maintained their gold awards. [Read more…]

No to Biddulph crossing

stop2Calls to reinstate a crossing patrol near the junction of Congleton Road and Woodhouse Lane have been turned down by Staffordshire County Council.

Parents of children at the nearby Woodhouse Middle School were concerned over child safety after the Lollipop lady service was removed in 2009 but a study at the crossing point revealed that from 8am until 9am only four pedestrians used the crossing and 811 cars passed the spot. Following the assessment it has been deemed that due to the low numbers the crossing does not meet the criteria necessary to reinstate a crossing warden.

£155k to be invested in Kidsgrove ‘Screen Saver’
