Calls to reinstate a crossing patrol near the junction of Congleton Road and Woodhouse Lane have been turned down by Staffordshire County Council.
Parents of children at the nearby Woodhouse Middle School were concerned over child safety after the Lollipop lady service was removed in 2009 but a study at the crossing point revealed that from 8am until 9am only four pedestrians used the crossing and 811 cars passed the spot. Following the assessment it has been deemed that due to the low numbers the crossing does not meet the criteria necessary to reinstate a crossing warden.
