Bowlers get green

st-lawrencePlans for the bowling green on St Lawrence’s recreation ground have been approved by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.

Bowlers have been without a home since the Labour Club was demolished to make way for the Sainsbury’s development in 2010.

The new floodlit all weather surface and pavillion will be built on the old tennis courts adjacent to St Lawrence’s Church and work is expected to start in the next few weeks. The grassed area will remain open to the public along with a footpath to the cemetery.

Tipping Point

Bemersley2Residents are still being urged to make their voices heard to stop the plans to close Bemersley Tip, Biddulph, Staffordshire Moorlands.

Campaigners believe that to close Bemersley Tip will cause much inconvenience to residents and will increase fly tipping.

Staffordshire County Council are proposing to start consultation to close Bemersley Tip. However, the Report on which the Council is using to form the basis of that consultation is flawed because of the many mistakes within it.

On 16th April 2014, the Cabinet withdrew this item from their cabinet discussions, but made it clear that it was not withdrawing the item, it was only going to defer the discussions, therefore action is needed now, please sign the petition.

The ePetition, which has been signed by 296 people, runs to 05/05/2015 and can be found at http://moderngov.staffordshire.gov.uk/ieLogon.aspx?RPID=34898446&HPID=34898446&Forms=1

She said:

“It was great to get so many organisations who have jobs on offer or can help people find work together in one room for job seekers in Biddulph to talk to.  We have very low unemployment in the Moorlands, but I am always looking for practical ways to help people who need jobs, so it was great to see people coming to get advice or swap details with potential employers at the Jobs Fair.” [Read more…]
