Plans for the bowling green on St Lawrence’s recreation ground have been approved by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.
Bowlers have been without a home since the Labour Club was demolished to make way for the Sainsbury’s development in 2010.
The new floodlit all weather surface and pavillion will be built on the old tennis courts adjacent to St Lawrence’s Church and work is expected to start in the next few weeks. The grassed area will remain open to the public along with a footpath to the cemetery.
