Mapping a way to improve activity and health in Kidsgrove

Have your say in Kidsgrove NewsNBCKidsgrove residents are being asked to support a pioneering new consultation project being launched by the Borough Council and its project partner Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (SASSOT) to help improve their health and wellbeing.

A unique online mapping system specifically developed for this purpose will be used by Kidsgrove residents as part of a public consultation which will go beyond the ‘surface value’ of sports and leisure provision in Kidsgrove in order to gather data from a wide audience.

As well as providing the data and helping to better understand what sport and physical activities local people would like to access, the initiative will also help to shape future investment into key services, such as leisure facilities, parks and open spaces or other physical activities for the community. Have your say on Neighbourhood Plan

Biddulph neighbourhood planBiddulph residents, supported by Biddulph Town Council, are undertaking the formal pre-submission consultation of the draft Neighbourhood Development Plan and draft Neighbourhood Development Order for Biddulph.

Consultation started on Monday 23 September and runs to Monday 4 November, midday. This is a six-week statutory consultation period and the Town Council welcome comments on the draft documents.

Victoria Gardens scheme gets underway

Victoria Gardens drawingWork on the community garden scheme in Station Road, adjacent to Sainsbury’s, is now underway.

The project will include new fountains, benches and a statue paying tribute to its mining heritage.

This phase – part one of two – is the first 3 circles with the fountains, memorial area and then a quiet area with benches.

The Town Council have been working on a design for the memorial area that includes a sponsored brick scheme, where people can record the names of loved ones that worked in the mining industry. They are keen to hear from anyone who would like more information about this.

The Gardens are expected to be completed by spring next year.

Biddulph Moor Bonfire & Fireworks Spectacular

bonfireThe Biddulph Moor Bonfire & Fireworks Committee with representatives from the community, are once again, holding their Bonfire & Fireworks Spectacular.

The event will take place on Saturday 2nd November 2019 at Biddulph Moor Village Hall on Hot Lane, Biddulph Moor and gates will open at 6:00pm. [Read more…]

Green belt land at Gillow Heath marked for housing

The land, bordering the sewage works on Marsh Green Road at Gillow Heath, has now been included after the secretary of state for housing judged 12 acres of land previously earmarked along Biddulph Valley Way needed to be removed due to be being ‘unsound’, [Read more…]

Biddulph Festival 2019

festival logo 2019This year’s theme is ‘Carnival’ and organisors are hoping for a colourful array of costumes and displays for a bright and beautiful Launch Day on Saturday 29th June.

By popular demand, Biddulph by the Sea makes a return. Come along for sand, donkey rides, Punch & Judy, fair rides, community stalls and ice cream on Saturday 20th July. Other firm favourites such as Ukulele Day, Variety Show, Biddulph Up In Arms events, Biddulph Fun Day, Flower Festival, Churches Together Cafes & Evening walks make a welcome return along with lots of other great events.
