As Christmas is fast approaching, Alsager Partnership and Alsager Round Table will be bringing another fabulous evening of Christmas Markets to include a Light Switch On in the town.

Now in it’s eleventh year, organisers will bring a combination of Christmas festive fun and entertainment. Crewe Brass Band will get us in the festive spirit and will also play along to the fabulous firework display and lights switch-on. We have fair-ground rides, an array of street food, visitors can pick up unique gifts, alongside live music and entertainment. Alsager School officially opened their various school expansion building projects, which were completed during the last academic year and finished over the summer.

The school was asked to increase in size and admit an additional 150 pupils in total (30 per year group) by Cheshire East Local Authority as part of their responsibility to ensure enough school places were available to meet local demand. The figures and size of expansion were based on the number of approved housing developments in the local area. [Read more…]

Alsager Community Orchard is situated in Wood Park and was planted earlier this year by Friends of Wood Park.

Some of you will have seen the orchard at its best in late spring, when the wild flowers were blooming and the trees starting to bear fruit. As the summer progressed the site became overgrown and inaccessible, though the intention was that the orchard would provide a habitat for a wide range of wild life and local people would be able to pick and enjoy the fruits. One World 2019 returns to the village on Saturday 5^th October at Alsager Civic from 9.30am-1pm.

The event will bring back the much loved ‘national stalls’, celebrating the cultural diversity within our Alsager community, and a range of free craft activities and workshops including the incredible story teller, Ian Douglas and ukulele and junk percussion workshops running throughout the morning. These are free of charge and open to all ages so bring the whole family along to join the fun.

We are really pleased to be joined on the day by the team from Two Doors Studio who will be sharing their artistic skills in a range of ways- why not make a Morsbag or have a try at a fused glass art piece? We will be adding to the Alsager bunting too!

We’ve had a fantastic response to our poetry competition. Many thanks to all those who have entered. Winners will be announced at the One World Festival where we will also have a poetry exhibition of all entries in the library.

There will be plentiful tea and coffee and some great home-made cakes, so get the date in your diary and join us for another great Alsager event.

On Sunday 8^th September, Alsager will once more be transformed into a little Italy with the town’s annual line-up of fabulous food, family fun, Italian supercars and scooters alongside live entertainment, competitions and more… bringing a little taste of Italy to Cheshire East.

To give you a flavour of what to expect… there will be an array of Italian food sellers from pizza to gnocchi to arancini, panini, olives, oils and wine and much more, with live music/entertainment, Italian supercars & scooters on display, fairground rides, balloon twisting, stilt walkers and street entertainers… and once again there will be fabulous live on stage cookery demonstrations [Read more…]

Hassall Green Nature Reserve will be open to all from 10am-4pm on Saturday 10^th August, as we run exciting nature-based activities and launch The Land Trust’s FREE Green Angels training programme.

National land management charity the Land Trust is bringing its award-winning and free Green Angels environmental training courses to adults across South Cheshire and North Staffordshire, giving them the chance to gain practical skills through hands-on learning. [Read more…]
