Fake goods dealer told – ‘pay up or face jail’

Counterfeit 3A dealer in fake designer goods brought to justice by Cheshire East Council has been told by a court to hand over £5,000 or face jail.

Tracey Bell, 53, who owns and runs Alsager Tanning Studio, in Station Road, Alsager, sold counterfeit designer goods with an estimated genuine value of £100,000.

Items included designer label jewellery and watches, phone accessories, make-up, bags and clothing, footwear, perfume, sunglasses and headphones. The fake goods were labelled under exclusive marques including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Beats.  [Read more…]

One World 2018 – Make Alsager Fantastic – Try and Use Less Plastic!

OneWorld posterOne World 2018 returns to the village on Saturday 29th September at a new venue of Alsager Civic and at a new time of 11am-2pm.

This year’s ‘One World’ theme is ‘The World is Changing – how about us?’ and we are turning our focus to the worldwide issue of plastics.

Colleagues from Cheshire East recycling and sustainability teams will be joining us, along with others with some unique approaches to reducing our plastic usage. We are holding an exciting competition for 4-14 year olds who we are asking to be creative with recycled plastics! The challenge is to create a model or piece of artwork using plastic that can be recycled, entry forms are available from local schools and also from the library. [Read more…]

Hello! , the school summer holidays are nearly upon us!

Let’s see if this lovely weather lasts!

Typically, the end of school term can result in a rise in crimes such as noise complaints, disorder and other forms of antisocial behaviour from the community. Merely a day goes by these days without us reading about some instance of anti-social behaviour caused by groups of teenagers congregating in a particular area BUT it’s important that we don’t tar all teenagers with the same brush.

drunk-youthsThe vast majority of Alsager’s young people are a credit to themselves, and only a small minority of individuals may be responsible for any youth-related problems we see over the summer. Many teenagers who might congregate near your home or shops often do so because there’s simply no other suitable place to go and hang out. Station parking pay by phone

Station low res 2018East Midlands Trains have introduced a new payment system at Alsager and Kidsgrove Stations where customers can simply use a phone to pay for their parking.

Called ‘RingGo’ the system means customers won’t need to make sure they have the cash or change to pay for their parking – making it even easier to travel by train, and time-pressed commuters will benefit of not having to buy a pay and display ticket and return to their vehicle when they’re in a rush. Petition for Linley junction safety

IMG_1307Another serious accident at the dangerous Linley Road/Linley Lane junction has prompted concerned residents to set up a petition to get traffic lights installed as a matter of urgency.

Following numerous crashes and a fatality 17 years ago residents have been campaigning for safety measures such as a speed limit reduction or traffic lights at this accident hot spot. [Read more…]

Consultation on bin changes

BinsCheshire East are consulting on the introduction of charges for new and replacement bins to save £360,000 a year.

The council say this is because they have been experiencing a high level of bin supply requests with over 20,000 new or replacement bins supplied in the last two years, and this level of demand is placing an unsustainable pressure on the budget and needs to be addressed as they can no longer afford to provide all of the replacement containers free of charge.

Council crackdown on dog fouling and anti-social owners
