MP calls on Rail Minister to improve Alsager rail services

Alsager-railway-stationJPG low resAlsager MP Fiona Bruce spoke in a debate on ‘Rail Services in North Stafordshire’ calling for better rail services in Alsager.

Mrs Bruce pointed out that there were a number of issues concerned residents had raised, she said, “Earlier this month, I held a surgery late one evening at Congleton station. I was impressed, though not entirely surprised, that no less than 30 to 40 residents came along on a dark wintry evening. Alsager road works could cause disruption for drivers

Linley Lane temp lights feb 2019 low resWorks have started (7th January) to install a new roundabout on Linley Lane as part of the development of  the old Twyfords factory.

Traffic control will be in operation with temporary traffic lights (two-way signals) while the work on forming a new roundabout on A5011 Linley Lane between the junction with Crewe Road and the Railway Bridge takes place.

Drivers are warned that the temporary traffic control systems are expected to cause some disruption to traffic in the area and to take this into account when planning their journey.

The works are expected to take around 7 weeks and are due to be completed by the 1st March 2019.

Alsager Bonfire & Fireworks Display

The annual Alsager fireworks and bonfire night is a major charity event in the community of Alsager. The Round Table organise the event and it is a key fund raiser for the village.

It will be held on the field next to The Plough pub as usual. All funds raised are ploughed back into community projects and for people in need.

On the evening there will be an amazing fireworks display to music, fairground rides and food stalls. The field will be open from 5pm with the bonfire lit at 6pm and the fireworks lit at 6.45pm.

Tickets can be purchased in the village at shops or on the gate.

A Battles Over – A Nation’s Tribute

The Royal British Legion Alsager Branch, supported by Alsager Town Council, are proud to be taking part in the nation’s tribute ‘A Battles Over’. This is set to be a moving and truly unique day with a series of events delivered in Alsager to enable the community to pay their respects to those who gave their lives during the war.

The world is changing – what about us?

OneWorld posterThe annual One World Festival will be taking place on Saturday September 29th from 11-2pm.

The theme of this year’s festival is “The world is Changing- what about us?” We have changed venue this year and so the festival will be held in and around Alsager Civic Centre. This is so we can be at the heart of the village as we celebrate the diversity which exists in our community.

Come along and try foods and delicacies from around the word; take part in dancing, drumming and storytelling workshops or try a new craft.

As ever this festival provides us the opportunity to celebrate our community so come along and see what we have to offer.

Fake goods dealer told – ‘pay up or face jail’

Counterfeit 3A dealer in fake designer goods brought to justice by Cheshire East Council has been told by a court to hand over £5,000 or face jail.

Tracey Bell, 53, who owns and runs Alsager Tanning Studio, in Station Road, Alsager, sold counterfeit designer goods with an estimated genuine value of £100,000.

Items included designer label jewellery and watches, phone accessories, make-up, bags and clothing, footwear, perfume, sunglasses and headphones. The fake goods were labelled under exclusive marques including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Beats.  [Read more…]

One World 2018 – Make Alsager Fantastic – Try and Use Less Plastic!

OneWorld posterOne World 2018 returns to the village on Saturday 29th September at a new venue of Alsager Civic and at a new time of 11am-2pm.

This year’s ‘One World’ theme is ‘The World is Changing – how about us?’ and we are turning our focus to the worldwide issue of plastics.

Colleagues from Cheshire East recycling and sustainability teams will be joining us, along with others with some unique approaches to reducing our plastic usage. We are holding an exciting competition for 4-14 year olds who we are asking to be creative with recycled plastics! The challenge is to create a model or piece of artwork using plastic that can be recycled, entry forms are available from local schools and also from the library. [Read more…]
