Biddulph Neighbourhood Plan
Biddulph Town Council are taking advantage of a national scheme to give communities more say over how their neighbourhoods develop. The Town Council intend to prepare a Neighbourhood Development Plan for the Parish and have applied to Staffs Moorlands District Council to designate the whole of the parish as the Neighbourhood Plan Area. The District Council is seeking people’s views on the proposed Neighbourhood Areas – the first step towards preparation of a Neighbourhood Development Plan. [Read more…]
Plans to improve Biddulph Town Hall
Plans to improve the services provided at Biddulph Town Hall have been given the green light by district planners. Staffordshire Moorlands District Council’s planning committee have approved proposals to install a glazed extension at the building. The Council’s customer reception and self serve points will move to the new glazed foyer which will also provide improved accommodation for the police services which operate from the building ensuring they remain in the town hall. Tipping point
A new review of waste disposal sites across Staffordshire could see Biddulph Recycling Centre in Bemersley Road facing closure only months after residents were reasured that it would remain open. The Biddulph waste tip was originally proposed for closure due to the supposed proximity of alternative facilities, and as part of cuts to save Staffs County Council around £150,000 a year. But residents and local councillors complained that the nearest county council run recycling centres in Leek or Burslem were far from easy for Biddulph residents to access. [Read more…]
The Big Biddulph (Fairtrade) Breakfast
The Big Biddulph (Fairtrade) Breakfast and Funny (Fairtrade) Hat Show will take place on Saturday 12 March at Biddulph Town Hall 10-11.30. The Search is on to find Biddulph’s wackiest hat, made from packaging materials! Rules for entrants to the Funny (Fairtrade) Hat Competition: hats must include at least two pieces of Fairtrade packaging, with the Fairtrade Mark clearly visible to the judges. Certificates for the best in each group; prize for the best overall entry. Funny Hat Parade – anyone can enter the Funny Hat Parade – hats can be made from anything; but they must be homemade, not bought! Tickets for The Big Biddulph Breakfast cost £1 per person, and entry to Funny Hat Show is free. Completed hats can also be entered into Biddulph High School’s Trash-to – Treasure Event on Tuesday 22nd March.
Biddulph Film Club

People from Biddulph are being encouraged to do something great with a plate to help out an older person this winter as part of a unique community food-sharing project. Winter puts many extra pressures on older people, preventing them from getting out, not eating properly and, with fewer visits from people, this can lead to social isolation and loneliness. But one scheme making a difference is Casserole Club.
