Plans to improve the services provided at Biddulph Town Hall have been given the green light by district planners. Staffordshire Moorlands District Council’s planning committee have approved proposals to install a glazed extension at the building. The Council’s customer reception and self serve points will move to the new glazed foyer which will also provide improved accommodation for the police services which operate from the building ensuring they remain in the town hall. Councillor Edwin Wain, cabinet member for planning, development and property, said: “By granting planning permission for this project, the Council is fulfilling its commitment to improving the use and appearance of this important town centre building and to enhancing Biddulph’s role as a service centre. “This extension will enable us to improve public access to these services and provide a better, more comfortable, environment for visitors and staff and I look forward to seeing the work start next year.” Work is expected to begin in the Spring.
