Kidsgrove to keep direct London rail link

Station low resThe new operator for the West Midlands rail network has confirmed that the direct train service to London will continue to call at Kidsgrove, Stone and Alsager stations.

There had been concerns that the new operators, West Midland Trains, would change the route when they take over in December meaning that passengers would have to change at Stafford to get to London but they have now confirmed that they are keeping the route which means Kidsgrove, Stone and Alsager are due to keep a direct service to London Euston. New controls for dog owners

Dog_controls_800pxNewcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council (NBC) are proposing changes to the current Dog Control Orders.

Changes to legislation mean that Dog Control Orders will cease in October 2017 unless a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is created to replace them.

Funding to beat loan sharks on the Miners’ Estate

loanshark-1low resFunding has been secured from the Illegal Money Lending Team’s Community Fund for a Community Financial Inclusion Project focused on the Miners’ Estate, Kidsgrove.

The main aims of the project are:-

· To improve community awareness of     Loan Sharks and how to deal with them.

Plans for Victoria Gardens in Station Road

Victoria Gardens drawingBiddulph Town Council are investigating a scheme to improve the area around the Victoria Centre adjacent to the Sainsbury’s store.

At present the scheme is in Concept Design Stage looking at improvements that could be made to the gardens.

Funds to pay for the scheme would come from £60,000 of Section 106 money given to the Town Council to carry out works in the area left over from the development of Sainsbury’s Store. This money will have to be given back to Sainsbury’s with interest if not expended by the 2018 deadline.  [Read more…]

Residents urged to follow chimney and fire safety advice

This timely reminder comes after a house fire in Biddulph was caused by a stray ember from an open fire. Crews were called to reports of a chimney fire in Park Lane, Knypersley on Thursday September 7. When they arrived they found the ground floor well alight. [Read more…]

Cheshire East adopts Local Plan

Local PLan 2017Cheshire East Council has sealed the formal adoption of its landmark Local Plan.

The decision comes after a planning inspector last month gave Cheshire East’s strategic blueprint for shaping development in the borough up to 2030 a ‘clean bill of health’. [Read more…]

One World Week 2017

One World Festival 2Alsager Ladies Circle will be holding the annual One World Festival on October 14th at Alsager School between 10-1pm.

This free, hugely successful event has become a feature in Alsager over several years and our aim is to celebrate the diversity that exists in our community.
