U3A Orchestra copy low resThe U3A Light Orchestra based in Alsager will perform with the ‘Can’t Sing (?) Choirs from Alsager, Sandbach and Congleton on December the 20th at the Victoria Hall in Hanley, start 7.00pm.

All your favourite Christmas music and more (James Bond through the years including 2015!) with at least 280 performers. Come and enjoy giving (in aid of Motor Neurone Disease Charity) with at least 280 performers, tickets £10. If you can’t make it you can watch on the Big Sing on the BBC at 4pm.

alsager fire station3Alsager firefighters are inviting people to join them at Alsager fire station’s open day. The FREE open day is on Sunday 25th October from 11am to 4pm Alsager Fire Station, Brookhouse Road, Alsager, ST7 2PA. There will be plenty of things to see and do, including: Fire engines on display, Firefighters offering fire safety tips and road safety tips, Road traffic collision demonstrations. Please bring your friends and family along to the open day.

On October 19th, Peter Ollerhead will give a presentation on the History of Rolls Royce, Crewe, and in November Jim Sutton will talk about John Twiss, carrier, of Alsager. Subjects for 2016 include Dating Family Photographs; the Anderton Boat Lift; Digging for Your Ancestors (talk by an archaeologist); Overpaid, Oversexed and Over Here (the GIs in wartime Britain) and Baptist Church Records.

Alsager Civic Cinema

Paddington-2014-Movie-hd-wallLook who’s come to visit at Alsager Civic….. Paddington! Alsager Civic Cinema are pleased to announce their next films being shown on Monday 16th February are……. ‘Paddington’ and ‘The Imitation Game’.

As it is half term Paddington will be shown at 3.30pm and The Imitation Game will be at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm. Paddington is based on Michael Bond’s story of a young Peruvian bear who travels to London in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone at Paddington Station, he meets the kindly Brown family, who offer him a temporary haven. Paddington has been described as “a bear-hug of a family treat” with a critic saying “the new Paddington film is as warm and welcome as a hot pair of socks on a winter morning”.
