Who doesn’t love getting cosy with a hot chocolate, wearing their fave Christmas jumper, and watching a festive film?!

On Sunday 18th December we’re ticking all these boxes at our special Civic Cinema showing of ‘Arthur Christmas’, with extra surprises too!
Doors open at 2pm, film starts at 3pm. Family tickets £35, individual tickets £10. Tickets are available from the civic Box office Monday – Thursday 9.30am-3pm.
Kids will receive a fully loaded hot chocolate and a surprise!

Gold Award for Alsager in Bloom
Alsager in Bloom has received a gold award in the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom North West contest in the large town category.

Chair of Alsager in Bloom, Cllr June Buckley, said she was delighted the group had won the coveted award. She said, “It reflects just the amazing work done by this community group and others in the town.”
She continued, “The judges were impressed with all the work being done in Alsager and the fact we’re moving away from just gardening.”

On Saturday 2nd February, from 11am until 3pm, at the Alsager Civic, Alsager Partnership will once again be showcasing an exhibition ‘All About Health & Wellbeing’.
The day itself promises to be jam-packed with information delivered by over 30 health, wellbeing and fitness organisations that will help you discover how you can make your family’s lives healthier, improve your general wellbeing and explore ways to be more active.
On the day, there will be many health organisations represented, alongside the following health screening checks available: Blood Pressure Checks, Body Fat Measurements, BMI Checks, Nutritional Advice, Diet and Diabetes/Blood Sugar Checks. [Read more…]
Alsager road works could cause disruption for drivers
Works have started (7th January) to install a new roundabout on Linley Lane as part of the development of the old Twyfords factory.
Traffic control will be in operation with temporary traffic lights (two-way signals) while the work on forming a new roundabout on A5011 Linley Lane between the junction with Crewe Road and the Railway Bridge takes place.
Drivers are warned that the temporary traffic control systems are expected to cause some disruption to traffic in the area and to take this into account when planning their journey.
The works are expected to take around 7 weeks and are due to be completed by the 1st March 2019.
Alsager Community Theatre – Can’t Pay – Won’t Pay
In March ACT will be bringing to the stage the outrageous and rarely performed comedy Can’t Pay?, Won’t Pay! written by Dario Fo, translated by Lino Pertile and adapted by Bill Colvill and Robert Walker.
Written in the crisis-hit atmosphere of 1970s Italy, this hilarious and critically acclaimed farce centres on direct action by housewives against inflationary supermarket prices and struggles with their Communist trade unionist husbands who face unemployment and worse! [Read more…]

Council to introduce new wheelie bin delivery charges
Cheshire East Council has announced it is to introduce a charge for the supply of new and replacement waste and recycling bins.
The charge for the supply of new and replacement standard 240-litre household bins will be £30 each for recycling, black residual and garden waste bin and £25 for a smaller-sized 140-litre residual, recycling and garden bin.
A 25 per cent concessionary rate will apply to residents on qualifying benefits, while any bins broken during the collection process will be replaced free of charge.
In the first instance of a bin being lost or stolen, a replacement will be provided free of charge but, if this recurs within three years, a charge will be made. [Read more…]
Alsager Bonfire & Fireworks Display
Alsager Bonfire & Fireworks Display Saturday 3rd November
The annual Alsager fireworks and bonfire night is a major charity event in the community of Alsager. The Round Table organise the event and it is a key fund raiser for the village.
It will be held on the field next to The Plough pub as usual. All funds raised are ploughed back into community projects and for people in need.
On the evening there will be an amazing fireworks display to music, fairground rides and food stalls. The field will be open from 5pm with the bonfire lit at 6pm and the fireworks lit at 6.45pm.
Tickets can be purchased in the village at shops or on the gate.
A Battles Over – A Nation’s Tribute
On 11th November 2018, the United Kingdom and its friends overseas will mark the day 100 years ago when the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War.
The Royal British Legion Alsager Branch, supported by Alsager Town Council, are proud to be taking part in the nation’s tribute ‘A Battles Over’. This is set to be a moving and truly unique day with a series of events delivered in Alsager to enable the community to pay their respects to those who gave their lives during the war.
