Victoria Gardens scheme in Station Road gets go ahead

Victoria Gardens drawingThe planning application for the community gardens in Station Road adjacent to Sainsbury’s have been approved by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council Planning Committee.

The project in Station Road, Biddulph, is set to include new fountains, benches and a statue paying tribute to its mining heritage using £60,000 of Section 106 money given to the Town Council to carry out works in the area left over from the development of Sainsbury’s Store. [Read more…]

Staffs Moorlands facebook copyAn ever increasing number of people are using social media to communicate, find information, keep up with the news and participate in society – and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has added to its online community presence by joining Facebook.

The Council has already done a lot of work to make it easier for everyone to contact them – including relaunching their website and introducing a customer portal so that people can create their own individual accounts with them. [Read more…]

Local Plan for Staffordshire Moorlands moves a step closer

Charity receives welcome funds

Support Staffordshire’s Community Transport Scheme was one of three local groups that received the funding through the Co-op donating one per cent to charity on purchases of their branded products. [Read more…]

Tipping the balance against waste offenders

DSC_0046New proposals aimed at tackling the scourge of fly tipping have been welcomed by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.

There were over one million fly tipping incidents in England last year alone and now the Government is proposing to give councils the power to issue fines of up to £400 – rather than take people to court – if their waste ends up in illegal tips. [Read more…]

Biddulph pool to close for repairs

Bid valley leisure reducedThe swimming pool area at Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre will be closed later this month whilst repairs are carried out. The rest of the centre will remain open as normal.

The essential maintenance to the support columns in the pool hall, which has been commissioned by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, will start on Monday 15 January and is due to be complete by 23 February. [Read more…]

Memorials to honour Biddulph’s fallen to be protected

war memorial reducedBiddulph’s two War Memorials have been given Grade II listed status by   Historic England as part of a five-year project to add 2,500 war memorials to the protected list.

The memorials are located at the junction of John Street and Congleton Road, and in the grounds of St Lawrence’s Church. [Read more…]
