A lasting tribute to long-serving Alsager station volunteer, Mark Hampton, who died last year, has been unveiled at Alsager station on the North Staffordshire Line.

Alsager skier Rowan Cheshire has been named in the Team GB line-up for next month’s Winter Olympics in Sochi.
The 18-year-old competes a new event, the halfpipe, at the Winter Olympics which start on Friday, February 7 in Russia. Cheshire takes her place in the team in good form after becoming the first British woman to win halfpipe World Cup gold earlier this month in Calgary, the first time a British woman has won gold in a World Cup event since 1992 when Jilly Curry claimed the combined title in Oberjoch, Germany.
Alsager Civic will be closed to the public on occasion over the next two weeks (from 24th January).
Due to the construction work being carried out at the Civic it will be necessary to close the building to the public over several days during the next few weeks.

The people of Alsager responded with outstanding generosity to a collection held on 22nd and 23rd November. Rotary Club of Alsager, Alsager Lions, Round Table and the Alsager Scout and Guide groups collected together, as they did in 2002 following the Indian Ocean Tsunami. [Read more…]
Next year’s Alsager Music Festival will take place on Saturday 12th July 2014.
With a similar theme to the hugely successful festival earlier this year, we are asking for bands, artists and DJs to come forward and get involved in next year’s event. We are aiming to finalise the line-up by the middle of February, so the closing date for applications is January 31st 2014. In addition, we are looking for new people to come forward and join in the organising team, so don’t be shy, contact us and help make the festival better than ever.

Alsager Station has won an award for the best small community project in the Community Rail Awards
The ‘Bee Friendly project’ at Alsager Station is a partnership initiative which is helping to sustain wildlife by providing pollinating plants and bee boxes within the station gardens.
The Community Rail Awards is an annual awards event run by ACoRP (the Association of Community Rail Partnerships). They were set up in 2005 so that the unsung heroes and heroines of the community rail world would have their hard work and dedication publicly recognised and rewarded.
