campus2The plans for the development on the former MMU site has been approved by the Strategic Planning Board. The application is for the construction of 426 homes and a £5 million ‘Sports Hub’ on the former Manchester Metropolitan University site. The application was actively supported by Fiona Bruce MP – who wrote to individual members of the Cheshire East Strategic Planning Board in support, Sport England, sporting clubs and many residents and councillors in Alsager. The ‘Sports Hub’ included in the development plans will have all weather pitches, grass pitches, changing rooms and floodlighting. The application was also revised to include ‘affordable’ homes and will include 19 one bedroom properties expected to cost less than £100,000. A financial contribution will also be made to Alsager Leisure Centre to offset the loss of indoor facilities lost on the campus.
