Progress for Kidsgrove Railway Station

Station walk bridge low resLast year, plans for investment at Kidsgrove Railway Station were delayed by Network Rail.

But now Cllr Kyle Robinson has confirmed that following on from meetings with Network Rail, East Midlands Trains and Ruth Smeeth MP, the project is moving forward once again.

Procurement is currently taking place, which will lead to the expansion of the car park on land adjacent to the station. This will allow for much more parking capacity. There will also be space available for bus services to call at the station to potentially create a transport hub fit for a modern town. Works are expected to begin this spring with confirmed dates coming soon. It is expected the new car park will be completed in summer 2018.

Network Rail has also confirmed that works on a new station bridge with disability access will likely begin in July 2018 and expected to be completed in August 2019. This will be welcome news for many people who have campaigned hard for these changes over many years including the great Jon Honeysett MBE.

Ruth Smeeth MP and Cllr Robinson will be meeting with Network Rail and East Midlands Trains again in the coming weeks to ensure the project is on track for the benefit of Kidsgrove and the wider area.
