Lidl GB has confirmed that its new supermarket on Hardingswood Road, in Kidsgrove, will open for the first time on Thursday 25th February.
The new store will be open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays, delivering Lidl’s fresh, quality and great value produce to the local community.
As part of the company’s ongoing £1.3bn expansion and regeneration plans across Great Britain, the new store has created around 40 new roles for the area and will feature facilities including a 1,100m² sales area, an in-store bakery, customer toilets and ample parking for both cars and bikes.
The new store will be providing surplus food and customer donations to a number of local charities. This is delivered through Lidl’s Feed it Back scheme, which is run in partnership with Neighbourly and connects Lidl stores up and down the country with local charities, foodbanks, community cafes and kitchens, putting quality food surplus to good use every day.
Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Dominic Bryan, commented: “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing our new store to Kidsgrove. It is great for us to be able to create more jobs in the area, and we are proud to serve the local community at this time.”
As per government guidance, the wearing of face coverings in supermarkets is now mandatory across England. Lidl is operating a range of social distancing measures to help maintain a safe environment for both colleagues and customers. Clear communication, including floor markings continue to be implemented across stores, reminding customers of the importance of maintaining a two metre distance.
Other measures that continue to be in place include dedicated cleaning stations at entrances, hand sanitiser, disinfectant spray and wipes for customers to use on their trolleys and baskets, protective screens at checkouts, as well as visors and face coverings are available for colleagues to wear. In addition, customers are encouraged to pay by contactless payment where possible.
