Kidsgrove station has been named winner of the Community Partnership category in East Midlands Trains’ annual Best Stations Awards. The award recognises the key role the station plays in its local community. One of the most keenly contested awards, Kidsgrove impressed the judges with its active involvement in the community, with a series of station community days arranged by North Staffordshire Community Rail Partnership involving East Midlands Trains’ staff, local businesses, schools and councils, together with the support of a sterling team of station adopters. The great effort made by local partners, the Partnership and MP Joan Walley to win accessibility funding also contributed to Kidsgrove’s success. A Special Recognition award was given to Faye Lambert, Community Rail Officer for the North Staffordshire Community Rail Partnership for supporting East Midlands Trains over many years and driving a host of improvements at stations across her route.
