On the 18th October 2025 there will be an opportunity for local residents to have an input to the design of the paved pedestrian area in front of the shops in King Street.
It is our intention to hold this at what was formerly Browns Garage, just around the corner on the junction of King Street and Whitehall Avenue from 11.00am until 2.00pm.
Many of the details and plans relating to the re-development in this vicinity have been shared and consulted on previously, but it will be a good opportunity for people to see what is planned, and more importantly, to give us your ideas and opinions as to how the paved area might be set out. Clearly there are limits as to what we can do, but we intend to incorporate benches, planters etc and we would like to know what local people think about our ideas for the transformation of this area.
By then, the refurbishment of the toilets should be complete, and we would welcome your views about the work carried out there.
We will also have the latest news on the programmes for the other works being carried out at the station, the King’s School and improvements to the town centre roads and car parks.
Please do come along and share your views. Paul Waring, Town and Borough Councillor/Town Deal Board Member.
