Plans to build 14 new homes in Kidsgrove town centre have been recommended for approval.
The triangle shaped site is on the junction of Heathcote Street and Kinnersley Street and approximately 0.32 hectares size. It is regarded as a suitable location for new housing which would be beneficial for Kidsgrove town centre as it will tidy up an unsightly plot of land which is currently vacant having been used for parking and historically was occupied by terraced residential properties of which only one remains.
A report by the planning committee states that “The design and appearance of the houses on the application are considered to represent good quality design and comparable to similar housing in the area. It is considered that the development would enhance the visual amenity of the area.”
The site is considered to represent a highly sustainable location for new housing development by virtue of its close proximity to shops, leisure facilities, buses and trains, and close proximity to schools, open space and employment opportunities.
The application was recommended for approval subject to the applicant entering into a Section 106 agreement towards the provision of public open space, the development to be substantially commenced within 15 months from the date of the decision, and meets conditions set out regarding design details.
