Cheshire’s first banking hub opens in Alsager

Cheshire’s first banking hub was officially opened on March 5 by the Mayor of Alsager, Councillor Jane Hearne, inside Alsager Civic on Lawton Road, Alsager.

A banking hub has officially opened inside Alsager Civic

Banking Hubs are a shared banking facility to provide face-to-face cash and banking services to the local community, filling a gap left since the closure of the town’s last traditional bank branch (Barclays on Crewe Road) in July 2018.

The hub is operated by the Post Office and managed by Cash Access UK, offering a counter service where customers of any major UK bank can perform everyday transactions such as withdrawing and depositing cash, paying bills, and checking balances. It operates

Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM and is designed to be accessible, with features like wheelchair and pram-friendly access. Additionally, the hub also offers a community banker service where customers can talk to their own bank in a private space about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub

This is the first banking hub to open in Cheshire. The hub was recommended following a community request.  Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “I’m happy to announce that the new banking hub in Alsager is now open, giving local residents renewed access to cash and in-person banking services. The hub is available for everyday banking transactions every day of the week, and for more specific or complex enquiries, a community banker will be on-site to assist on designated days.”
