Kidsgrove Town Team are delighted to announce that the town has been selected as one of seven finalists in a prestigious new competition to bring people and businesses together to revive their town or city.
Entering the ‘Revive & Thrive Challenge’ involved telling the judges about the Team’s ideas for connecting with the local community and how it would benefit the town. The judges were particularly looking for entries that considered how retail and town/city centres could be used as a conduit to successful engagement and connectivity to the community.
Kidsgrove beat off entries from much larger towns, even cities to become one of the seven finalists which are: Kidsgrove Town Team, Blackburn BID, Broadstairs Town Team, Ipswich Town and Waterfront, Melton Mowbray Borough Council, Uppingham First and Wyre Borough Council.
Colin Munro, CEO of miconex and one of the judges said: “We had almost 50 entries from towns and cities across the UK and getting down to the final seven was a tough exercise. We believe we have shortlisted the best examples of innovative approaches to reviving destinations and those who were able to demonstrate how much they wanted to improve their town and bring their ideas to life.”
The winner of the Challenge will receive tools and training worth up to £190,000 from a team of experts who can really make a difference to the future of our towns. This will also offer a new model and direction that can be delivered in communities around the UK.
The next stage of the Challenge involves attending the Retail Business Technology Expo (RBTE) in Earls Court on 12 March 2014 to present the Town Team’s ideas to the judges.
