Petition for Linley junction safety

IMG_1307Another serious accident at the dangerous Linley Road/Linley Lane junction has prompted concerned residents to set up a petition to get traffic lights installed as a matter of urgency.

Following numerous crashes and a fatality 17 years ago residents have been campaigning for safety measures such as a speed limit reduction or traffic lights at this accident hot spot. [Read more…]

Consultation on bin changes

BinsCheshire East are consulting on the introduction of charges for new and replacement bins to save £360,000 a year.

The council say this is because they have been experiencing a high level of bin supply requests with over 20,000 new or replacement bins supplied in the last two years, and this level of demand is placing an unsustainable pressure on the budget and needs to be addressed as they can no longer afford to provide all of the replacement containers free of charge.

Alsager Animal Safari

Safari 2018Alsager Rotary, Inner Wheel and Tangent Clubs are running the much-loved Alsager Animal Safari and need local businesses and residents to help make the event a success.

The event will run from the 26th May-17th June to coincide with the run up to carnival. Individuals, families and local businesses can enter by collecting a form with a minimum donation of £4, from local businesses displaying an Animal Safari poster. Tipping point for hardcore DIY

alsager tip 2From 15th January a small charge for the disposal of rubble was introduced at Cheshire East Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) including the Hassall Road site in Alsager.

Cheshire East Council say “We have a statutory duty to accept household waste, free of charge but waste created from home improvements, repairs and alterations to your home or domestic property is not classed as household waste and therefore we have no legal duty to accept it.

“We have introduced the charging scheme to allow you to continue to dispose of materials for which you may otherwise need to hire a skip or source another outlet. Our alternative option is to refuse to accept any rubble at the HWRCs .” [Read more…]
