Biddulph Rotary Club to hold its ‘Swimathon’ in April

swimathon 2016Since 2001, Biddulph Rotary Club have organised a ‘Swimathon’, which, over the years, has been very successful and has raised over £75,000 for a variety of local charities. Although the event was expanded a few years ago to include Cycling and Running, this proved difficult to administer and has reverted to the more popular, purely Swimming, event.

Local Companies and organisations are asked to raise teams of up to six members which will raise money by sponsorship, either by fixed sums or money per length completed. The money raised can then be donated through Rotary either to the officially sponsored charities, or by arrangement with Rotary to help support their own good causes.

Each team will have 50 minutes in a swimming lane and the team captain will arrange with his team how the swimming will be arranged.

This year the event will be held at Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre Swimming Pool, on Saturday, 23rd April.

The money raised will go mainly to a number of local Charities including the ‘Cardiac Risk in the Young’, ‘Pancreatic Cancer Action’, and ‘The Meningitis Research Foundation’, as well as other good causes supported by Rotary, as requirements become known.

The event will be sponsored by local businesses, with refreshments for the participants provided.

Come and join us for a Fun Day Swimming and help us raise much needed funds for the chosen local charities.
