Biddulph Rotary and Santa beat Corvid

It was originally thought that the normal Christmas celebrations of Santa’s arrival and his tour of the town, allowing children to talk to him and tell him what presents t hey would like, would have to be completely cancelled. But with help from the police and local officials, a substitute has been salvaged, and it has been agreed that Santa and his sleigh will be touring Biddulph and District this Christmas, and children will be able to see Santa.

On Weekday evenings, Santa in his sleigh will tour the town, but unfortunately won’t be able to stop so that Santa can talk to the children but he will slowly drive past on his traditional routes around the town during the next two weeks.

For information about the dates and see o0n-line for the routes on the web at: https://www.facebook.com/BiddulphRotaryClub/posts/995443330964573

For children who would like to see  Santa in the more usual way, Rotarian Rob Lomas has given permission for the sleigh to be stationary at Glebe Farm at Astbury on the Saturdays and Sundays in December between  Midday  and  3.0 pm, so that children can talk to Santa. Since the sleigh will be in the open air and social distancing will be maintained, this arrangement is in line with the Corvid rules and worked very well during last weekend when it was trialled.

In previous years children have been able to see Santa in Sainsbury’s Car Park in Biddulph centre, but this won’t be possible this year. However the Council have stepped in to help and have decorated the bus hub / Bus station as Santa’s grotto, and Santa will be in there on 21/22/23 December – (times are to be confirmed, but are likely be from 11am till 3pm).
