Once again the Rotary Club of Biddulph has organised the ‘Youth Speaks’ Competition for teams of young speakers from Biddulph schools.
The event was held at the Victoria Community Centre on Monday 25th November with 6 teams of three speakers taking part, representing James Bateman Junior High School, Biddulph High School and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy. The subjects chosen by the teams were both diverse and challenging, ranging from ‘Deforestation’, ‘Euthanasia’ and ‘Stranger Danger’. [Read more…]

Rail passengers will now be able to access free, fast internet at Kidsgrove Station thanks to an investment programme delivered in partnership with WiFi provider The Cloud.
The move is the latest stage in the train operator’s plan to ensure passengers have access to wireless internet across its mainline route network, both on board trains and at stations. East Midlands Trains began introducing internet access on board its London trains three years ago. [Read more…]
Next year’s Alsager Music Festival will take place on Saturday 12th July 2014.
With a similar theme to the hugely successful festival earlier this year, we are asking for bands, artists and DJs to come forward and get involved in next year’s event. We are aiming to finalise the line-up by the middle of February, so the closing date for applications is January 31st 2014. In addition, we are looking for new people to come forward and join in the organising team, so don’t be shy, contact us and help make the festival better than ever.

Tesco store in Kidsgrove are displaying a ‘Rememberance’ tree for Christmas.
Customers have until 22nd December to fill in a star with a message to place on the tree to remember those who have passed away and won’t be here this Christmas.
A small donation is helping raising money for Tesco’s chosen charity this year which is Diabetes UK for which they have raised over £9000 so far.
Alsager Station has won an award for the best small community project in the Community Rail Awards
The ‘Bee Friendly project’ at Alsager Station is a partnership initiative which is helping to sustain wildlife by providing pollinating plants and bee boxes within the station gardens.
The Community Rail Awards is an annual awards event run by ACoRP (the Association of Community Rail Partnerships). They were set up in 2005 so that the unsung heroes and heroines of the community rail world would have their hard work and dedication publicly recognised and rewarded.

Cheshire East are again urging people to give their views on the Local Plan.
The Local Plan guides development and defines how planning applications are dealt with until 2030. It sets the overall planning strategy, allocates sites for development and contains planning policies which aim to ensure that new development contributes to the economic, environmental and social needs of the Borough.
