A New Kind of Rotary Club is coming to Alsager

PrintA new and different kind of Rotary Club called a Satellite Club is being set up in Alsager. The Satellite Club is being designed to minimise the demands on people’s time and to make it as easy as possible for people to give something back to their community.

David Black, member of the existing Rotary Club said, “We know there are lots of people in Alsager who would like to help at community events. We also know that volunteering gives people a sense of wellbeing – it makes them happier. What people can’t do is find the time to meet regularly. The Satellite Club is being designed to make it as easy as possible for people to get involved without giving up lots of time.”

David explained that the Satellite Club idea was an exciting development for Rotary.  “In truth the new Satellite Club will be unlike anything you know or think you know about Rotary. It will be informal, local and focused on community events. All the Rotary organisation does is provide the mechanism to allow it to happen.”

Satellite members will be fully paid of members of the Rotary organisation but will decide themselves when and how they need to meet. There are no hard and fast rules for the establishment of a Satellite Club. Its new members will decide how the Club will be run.
