Biddulph’s new £1.175 million community facility

biddulph_station_510x244A blueprint for Biddulph’s new £1.175 million joint fire, ambulance and community facility was showcased in the village on November 4.

Residents were invited to attend one of two drop-in sessions at the community fire station on Princess Street. The events were an opportunity for the community to have an informal chat to members of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service who are based in locally. An on-duty paramedic also called in throughout the day and the project team were available to answer visitors’ questions about the development. Santa’s Visit to Biddulph

SantaArrivesSanta and his Sleigh will arrive at Biddulph Town Hall, escorted by members of Biddulph Rotary Club, at 6pm on Saturday 28th November.

After the Christmas lights are switched on he will go to his temporary grotto in the Town Hall, where children will be able to talk to him. A small group of Rotarians have been hard at work during the last few weeks, repairing the ravages of last winter’s weather and making a few improvements to the design of the sleigh. The ladies of Biddulph Inner Wheel have also been busy ensuring that the interior of the sleigh is attractively decorated and in pristine condition. Starting on Tuesday 1st December, the Rotary Club will be taking Santa and his sleigh to visit children in Biddulph and the surrounding area, between 6.00pm and 8.30pm on weekday evenings. Because of traffic problems it will not be possible to visit every road; so the sleigh will be stopping at strategic points at the ends of some roads. The itinerary will be published in the local press and copies will be available at the Town Hall, on display in the town and on the council web site. Santa and the Sleigh will be in Biddulph Moor on Saturday 5th December, and outside Weatherspoons during the morning of Saturday, 12th December. The sleigh will also be on Sainsbury’s car park from 4.30pm until 8.00 pm on Saturday, 19th December. The members of the Rotary Club would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Biddulph for their generous donations to local charities via the Rotary collection in previous years and wish you all a very happy Christmas.

Writing’s on the wall for children at Fire Station

Fire station art thumb_IMG_6646_1024Three Alsager schools have been involved in a project with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service to display artwork at Alsager Fire Station conveying key fire safety messages.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service worked with the schools, Cranberry Academy, Pikemere Primary and Highfields Primary, encouraging the children to draw a variety of pictures to represent key fire safety messages. A safety advocate went into each of the schools and delivered a talk around road and fire safety to give the children the information they needed to produce the artwork ideas. These drawings were then given to a design company to use alongside key safety messages to create the five panels. [Read more…]
