The Biddulph Moor Bonfire & Fireworks Committee with representatives from the community including Biddulph Moor Village Hall, the Parents Association of Moor First School, Oasis Church and Biddulph Moor Scout group, are once again, holding their Bonfire & Fireworks Spectacular.

At a meeting of Biddulph Town Council in the summer, they agreed to make up the shortfall towards the running costs of a new 93 bus service.
The service began in August and will run until mid – January 2019. The Town Council’s contribution accounts for approximately half the cost of the service, which has been commissioned by Staffordshire County Council.
At the meeting, Councillors received information in relation to the number of people that use the service and the likely route. There was cross-party consensus that, although the provision of a bus service is not the usual function of a Town Council, this important public service should not be lost. [Read more…]
Alsager Bonfire & Fireworks Display Saturday 3rd November
The annual Alsager fireworks and bonfire night is a major charity event in the community of Alsager. The Round Table organise the event and it is a key fund raiser for the village.
It will be held on the field next to The Plough pub as usual. All funds raised are ploughed back into community projects and for people in need.
On the evening there will be an amazing fireworks display to music, fairground rides and food stalls. The field will be open from 5pm with the bonfire lit at 6pm and the fireworks lit at 6.45pm.
Tickets can be purchased in the village at shops or on the gate.
On 11th November 2018, the United Kingdom and its friends overseas will mark the day 100 years ago when the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War.
The Royal British Legion Alsager Branch, supported by Alsager Town Council, are proud to be taking part in the nation’s tribute ‘A Battles Over’. This is set to be a moving and truly unique day with a series of events delivered in Alsager to enable the community to pay their respects to those who gave their lives during the war.

The annual One World Festival will be taking place on Saturday September 29th from 11-2pm.
The theme of this year’s festival is “The world is Changing- what about us?” We have changed venue this year and so the festival will be held in and around Alsager Civic Centre. This is so we can be at the heart of the village as we celebrate the diversity which exists in our community.
Come along and try foods and delicacies from around the word; take part in dancing, drumming and storytelling workshops or try a new craft.
As ever this festival provides us the opportunity to celebrate our community so come along and see what we have to offer.
Plans to reopen part of Kidsgrove sports centre under a community management model could take another positive step forward.
The Council’s Cabinet is considering making a one-off capital contribution of £300,000 towards a significant refurbishment programme that includes improvements to dated “dry side” facilities.
The Borough Council and Staffordshire County Council are working with Kidsgrove Sports Centre Community Group, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), to develop viable proposals for volunteers to reopen the sports centre. Both councils signed a Memorandum of Understanding in February this year agreeing to work together to support the group in their goal until aspirations to replace the building with a new leisure centre in the long-term are achieved. This follows a trial this year in the town centre and Wolstanton where the Council’s Streetscene team cleared fly tipped waste from private rear alleyways. Signs were then put up warning people that the area was being monitored and prosecution of offenders would be pursued.
Changes were announced by the Government last year giving councils the power to issue people caught in the act of fly-tipping with fixed penalty notices of up to £400. This was to save councils time, enabling them to punish offenders on the spot without having to go through the rigmarole of the current court procedure.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) have reported that there has been an overall rise in incidents of fly tipping nationally. Newcastle-under-Lyme saw the third biggest percentage increase between 2015-16 and 2016-17, with incidents rising by 225 per cent. [Read more…]
A dealer in fake designer goods brought to justice by Cheshire East Council has been told by a court to hand over £5,000 or face jail.
Tracey Bell, 53, who owns and runs Alsager Tanning Studio, in Station Road, Alsager, sold counterfeit designer goods with an estimated genuine value of £100,000.
Items included designer label jewellery and watches, phone accessories, make-up, bags and clothing, footwear, perfume, sunglasses and headphones. The fake goods were labelled under exclusive marques including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Beats. [Read more…]
Public consultation was carried out by the Borough Council following a series of issues and problems including large numbers of missed collections.
The council now say that changes will be made to the unpopular recycling service after nearly six out of 10 people surveyed said they were unhappy with how it was working.
