Tesco Kidsgrove helping combat isolation in the community

tesco event feb 2016Tesco Kidsgrove held a party for Aspire residents from their sheltered schemes to bring residents together to help combat local isolation issues that some of them may be having.

Over 24 residents attend the party at Hollins Grange, some who live on the same site but had never met. Tesco funded the food, entertainment, prizes, refreshments and gifts for all who came. Also supporting the event was Ian Atherton from Staffordshire Clubs for the Youth who brought children from the Kings School who helped with serving the food out and even painting some residents nails, their presence really helped with the youth integration in the community bringing the different generations together; the Salvation Army provided an opportunity to chat and served refreshments to all; Pete from the Fire Services talked about safety in the home; and members from the Meadows Sheltered accommodation helped out.

Aspire’s scheme manager, Ana, helped organise the event with Tesco. More events to bring together the different organisations to help overcome isolation issues are being planned.
