One World 2018 – Make Alsager Fantastic – Try and Use Less Plastic!

OneWorld posterOne World 2018 returns to the village on Saturday 29th September at a new venue of Alsager Civic and at a new time of 11am-2pm.

This year’s ‘One World’ theme is ‘The World is Changing – how about us?’ and we are turning our focus to the worldwide issue of plastics.

Colleagues from Cheshire East recycling and sustainability teams will be joining us, along with others with some unique approaches to reducing our plastic usage. We are holding an exciting competition for 4-14 year olds who we are asking to be creative with recycled plastics! The challenge is to create a model or piece of artwork using plastic that can be recycled, entry forms are available from local schools and also from the library.

The event will bring back the much loved ‘national stalls’, celebrating the cultural diversity within our Alsager community, and a range of free craft activities including ‘Messy Church’. Look out for our own Chinese Dragon!

New this year will be a range of workshops for all ages that can be accessed free on the day- these include Bollywood and Bhangra dancing, Kotu West African drumming and Irish dancing. Check out our Facebook page- ‘One World Festival’ to get all the up to date info!

If you or your family have origins or links to another country and would like to celebrate this at One World 2018 please get in touch with Gemma on 07779 591110 or message through Facebook.
