Nat West Bank to withdraw from Biddulph High Street

Nat West Bank are to close the High Street branch in Biddulph as part of a nationwide raft of closures.

The news is another blow to the town centre that is trying to maintain a positive outlook despite increasingly challenging trading conditions and is expected to have a negative affect to footfall.

NatWest has revealed the closure as part of a nationwide cuts which will lead to the closure of the NatWest branches in Burslem, Stoke, Trentham, Biddulph, Cheadle and Stone. A smaller branch at Festival Park will also close.

They have blamed the move on a fall in customers using branches and that is linked to major changes to the way people do their banking.

The branches will close in October – after NatWest gave customers six months to make alternative arrangements.

A NatWest spokesman said: “We are communicating with our customers affected by the closures and proactively contacting vulnerable and regular branch customers.

“We have listened closely to feedback from local communities and extended the time between announcing our decision and the branch closures to six months. This has been done to ensure our customers have time to consider the right banking options for them.”
