Lions aug 2019 reduced sizeLions Club collect old spectacles in the UK for reuse across Africa and Eastern Europe, over 300,000 pairs are collected nation wide which are sent to for reuse.

Apart from Scrivens we have collection boxes at the Mere Park/Cedars Medical Centre (where maintenance technicians David collects), WH Smiths – Alsager Post Office and Kenneth Wright Opticians in Newcastle under Lyme.

We usually make use of a well known wine merchants empty boxes and send nigh on six full boxes a year to a fellow Lions Club in Chichester where they are processed by their club members and then forwarded to Medico France in Le Havre. Medico who have the necessary equipment to clean and grade the spectacles for use in their eye camps in Africa and Eastern Europe.

So thanks to everybody who has helped to make use of their old spectacles and put them to good use. Thank you.

Especially to all newcomers to Alsager and those who have lived here for a number of years, Alsager Lions are delighted to welcome any new members, in order to help us to carry on doing good works for the local community and beyond.
