Football Fun about to Kick Off

britannia_stadium02Visits to premiership football grounds feature in a new football development programme.

Youngsters will be taken on trips to Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium and Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium as part of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council’s summer coaching scheme. The five-day courses, designed for boys and girls of all abilities between the ages of five and 13, also teach basic skills such as passing, dribbling, shooting, attacking and defending. A course is available at Kidsgrove Sports Centre from 10 to 14 August. Other sessions take place every weekday, between 10am and 4pm, at Roe Lane playing fields, Clayton, from 20 to 24 July, 27 to 31 July, 3 to 7 August and 17 to 21 August. Places cost £50 per child. The borough council’s football development programme has FA Charter Standard status, which means it meets best practice standards of coaching, administration and child protection.
