East Midlands Trains invites passengers to see plans for Kidsgrove Station

Network Rail, East Midlands Trains and Staffordshire County Council are holding a drop-in session at Kidsgrove station on Friday 11 March to discuss the proposed plans for the station for 2016. Managers from Network Rail, East Midlands Trains and Staffordshire County Council will be available between 11:30 and 14:30, the team wants to show passengers and local residents the plans that have been developed from the feedback received over the last year.

The project, worth nearly £6million will be funded by the Department for Transport’s Access for All scheme, the National Stations Improvement Programme, Staffordshire County Council and the Local Enterprise Partnership and the North Staffordshire Community Rail Partnership. The plans available to view include:

New fully-accessible footbridge
New station building
Larger car park facility
New transport interchange
Mark Lambert, Estates Development Manager said, “Last year we brought a range of design options to the station for passengers and residents to view. We’ve taken away the feedback and have come up with a number of plans we’re looking forward to sharing this Friday.

“We are very much aware that Kidsgrove station plays an important part in the lives of people locally and look forward to sharing our plans for the future.”

The event follows the opening of a new cycle facility at the station on 16 February. Some 30 spaces were introduced with an overhead cover.
