Biddulph pool to close for repairs

Bid valley leisure reducedThe swimming pool area at Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre will be closed later this month whilst repairs are carried out. The rest of the centre will remain open as normal.

The essential maintenance to the support columns in the pool hall, which has been commissioned by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, will start on Monday 15 January and is due to be complete by 23 February.

G F Tomlinson, who have extensive experience in this type of work, will be undertaking the repairs which have been designed, and will be overseen, by David Trowler Associates.

Councillor Mike Bowen, cabinet member for communities, leisure and sport, said: “We realise that this may not be welcome news for swimmers but these works are essential and do require the closure of the pool area. The pools at Brough Park Leisure Centre in Leek and South Moorlands Leisure Centre in Cheadle remain open and can be used by members during this period.

“There should be no other disruption for users of Biddulph Valley which will operate as usual during the pool area closure. We’d like to apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and thank leisure centre users for their patience and understanding whilst the work is carried out.”

The Council has worked closely with its leisure operator partner, Parkwood Community Leisure, to ensure centre users have been notified about the closure and that minimum disruption is caused.
