Victoria Gardens scheme gets underway

Victoria Gardens drawingWork on the community garden scheme in Station Road, adjacent to Sainsbury’s, is now underway.

The project will include new fountains, benches and a statue paying tribute to its mining heritage.

This phase – part one of two – is the first 3 circles with the fountains, memorial area and then a quiet area with benches.

The Town Council have been working on a design for the memorial area that includes a sponsored brick scheme, where people can record the names of loved ones that worked in the mining industry. They are keen to hear from anyone who would like more information about this.

The Gardens are expected to be completed by spring next year.
