Did you know the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) gave out £63,900 to groups in your area last year?

From celebrating the history of Clough Hall Park to remembering how women in Staffordshire kitchens helped win the First World War, get involved in your area’s heritage this April.

The Paradise of the Potteries

Wednesday 4 April 2-6pm at Clough Hall Park

In the 1890s Clough Hall was a pleasure park to rival Trentham Gardens. Re-live its heyday on 4 April as young people from the King’s School and Sporting Communities CIC recreate the paradise of the potteries. The Kitchen Goes to War

Monday 16 – Friday 27 April at Talke Library (next to Spring Head School)

Come and see the replica WW1 kitchen, created in collaboration with Springhead pupils & artists Filament, and share the stories, heartaches and triumphs of the First World War home front. Did you know that rationing was introduced during the First World War and shortages meant vinegar was used as a raising agent in cakes instead of baking powder? Could your big idea be next?

Thanks to National Lottery players funding is still available for community groups, schools, churches and other not-for-profit groups to celebrate their areas’ heritage. Groups can also apply for a grant to learn about the First World War 100 years after the guns fell silent on 11 November 2018.
